David Stamp

David was born in Plymouth, Devon, England in 1963 and has always been interested in art since he was at school. He has lived and worked in Plymouth and Torbay before settling in West Cornwall where the natural beauty of the Cornish landscape provides a wealth of subjects for his work.

He is self taught and has been described as an up and coming artist in West Cornwall. He has been inspired by artists including Edward Wesson, John Yardley, Arnold Lowrey, Kim Page and is a member of the Phillips House Group of Artists as well as the Ashton Arts Group. He works mainly in watercolour, acrylics and mixed media and he has sold his paintings to customers from all over the world. David does not claim to be an accomplished artist in any way and believes that whether or not his work is liked is for the viewer to decide.

David has always lived and worked near the sea and has worked as a diver, a dive boat skipper and has served as a volunteer crew member of the St Ives Lifeboat Crew for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
